beyond frequent,
that was how much.

that god damn song that
has followed me since
adolescence,
been the soundtrack to more
memories than I can
remember.  

You in the passenger seat,
early enough for breath
still visible inside the car,
everything outside was white.

Thought of goodbye,
the first not the last,
the cataclysm
of farewell
when life changed
and we knew it’d stay
changed.
