The Change we Need

Every once in a while, a young person in our community, village, country, or in global reach, stands up and says enough is enough, something has to change. It makes complete sense. Some welcome it, but others worry that change will be too much to cope with.

The Wedding Drums was set 100 years ago, yet it reflects the same "once in a while" refreshing young person, who stands up to attempt to change what seems wrong, unfair, unjust, in their society.

Today, we have had a young person, 16 year old Greta T, stand up and tell the world that we need to look after our environment and not be so selfish and greedy.

100 years ago, Amina, aged 12, tried to stand up to her parents, and the village, to change Arranged Marriage of children, and allow them to remain at school.

The Wedding Drums shows how two young girls, aged 12 and 14, went about trying to change the course of their life in different ways, coming across horrific hurdles as they venture out of the norm.
