#amwriting – a look inside the author process

Writing characters is a funny business. I spent seven books (six in the main series plus a companion novel) being consumed by the voices of my characters.

While I’m writing a series, I’m convinced that I will never be able to write any other voice. And yet, now that I’m working on my new series, Nava and the gang feel like much loved friends whom I haven’t seen in a while.

Now that I’ve got Ash’s voice in my head, I have to consciously think about how Nava would respond. It’s no longer instinctive.

I really miss hearing her voice though.
