All E3 2020’s Digital Replacements Announced So Far
Last month, we learned that E3 2020 had been cancelled and speculated that more companies would do digital events in its place.
Based on last year, we would expect to see E3 shows from Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, EA, Bethesda, Ubisoft, Square Enix, PC Gaming, Limited Run Games, and Devolver Digital.
Sony had already announced it wouldn’t be at E3 2020, so that leaves us with 9 others. Let’s take a look at what we know so far.
An Xbox digital event from Microsoft was almost immediately announced, although we still don’t know when it will be.
Nintendo has yet to announce its usual E3 Nintendo Direct, but since they already held a digital event, a big Nintendo Direct in June seems likely. (I can see them not replacing the Nintendo Treehouse streams, though.)
EA has yet to make an announcement.
Bethesda will not have a digital showcase in June.
Ubisoft hasn’t announced anything definitive, but like Microsoft, made an early statement about exploring digital options.
Square Enix had a similar statement.
The PC Gaming Show has been announced for June 6.
Limited Run Games has kept its digital presentation set for June 8 at 3 PM ET.
Devolver’s insanity will continue as planned.
But that’s not all! IGN has also announced a “Summer of Gaming” event in June that aims to show lots of demos, interviews, presentations, etc., and GamesRadar recently revealed the Future Games Show for June as well.
Overall, it sounds like we’ll still have a lot of “E3” coverage to look at this year. Did I miss any? Which are you looking forward to the most? Let me know in the comments.
