To Walk Through the Snow

Credit: Ratna Pochiraju
Together they were a teamA man and his faithful furry friendAlone yet never lonelyThey lived, laughed, and lazedIn a small hut across the snow
Twice a day they venturedTo step into the world that wasn’t theirsSide by side, they strolledAs the snow piled highBringing the Alps to this unknown city
The dog barked, greeting the bare treesThe man smiled, wishing them new leavesThe icy wind blew gentler Waiting for them to walk back home
The happy team took their timeHumming a melody that was a favoriteAnd the narrator paused writingWondering what it wasTo walk through the snow.
