It’s so weird to me that people think Watson plays the fool for Holmes (or is a fool) because he’s always impressed by Holmes’s deductions. First of all, we see Watson deducing and explaining Holmes’s deductions and thought processes fairly frequently.



And also, it’s so clear to me that Watson’s starry eyed admiration of Holmes isn’t hero worship, it’s love. Holmes is always a fresh and wondrous marvel to Watson because Watson loves him with everything he has. They’re in love. They’re partners.
