Typewriter Series #2934 by Tyler Knott Gregson

Felt home there, but not
in a way I’d felt before.
Not home as comfort, not as
a place familiar, not home as
safety, nor complacency or
contentedness, home in a new
sense, home undefined.
That place was a peace
unexpected, a soothing
to the soul sickness I’d carried
all my life, that place was home,
but in a way I haven’t invented
words for, haven’t even learned
the vocalizations to.  

Somewhere in the fog and grey,
in the green that wraps all things
and leaks into the red of your blood,
a question I didn’t know
I have always been asking
was answered.

Here, it whispered, the sound
hovering above snaking road
and hillside, here, said soft
and slow in the heather and moss,

you are home.
