Top Fantasy Books and Series I Want to Read (2020-2021)

For such a long time, I had only read around 10 individual series or books in the fantasy genre. Only in 2018 and 2019 did I start to read new authors and branch out into other areas of fantasy.

Over the past two years, Ive had a few authors and series on my radar, and I have now compiled a list of all the books and series I want to read over the next two years (or at least begin).

As a reader of the genre and as someone who writes a lot of fantasy too, its important to me that I read...

Andrew Thanks for this good list. I'm about to finish 'Last Argument of Kings' by Lord Grimdark. I strongly urge you to try First Law next.

I've tried Malazan before, but it was kinda confusing. So I quit. Id like your review of Malazan.

I'm a huge fan of Ken Liu's short stories and the Dandelion Dynasty is a series I'm looking forward.

You should probably check of 'Senlin Ascends' (Books of Babel series) by Josiah Bancroft. It's an indie work but I've heard a ton of good things!

Chris The Powder Mage trilogy and its followup trilogy are both quite good. They are what actually got me back into reading and into fantasy. They are different from a lot of fantasy as they are basically centered around Napoleonic era wars and combat, in their own world of course, with interesting magic that compliments that era of combat and some magic that is much older and traditional. It's a solid series that you may find to be interesting and/or fun.
