The Powder Mage trilogy and its followup trilogy are both quite good. They are what actually got me back into reading and into fantasy. They are different from a lot of fantasy as they are basically centered around Napoleonic era wars and combat, in their own world of course, with interesting magic that compliments that era of combat and some magic that is much older and traditional. It's a solid series that you may find to be interesting and/or fun.

I've tried Malazan before, but it was kinda confusing. So I quit. Id like your review of Malazan.
I'm a huge fan of Ken Liu's short stories and the Dandelion Dynasty is a series I'm looking forward.
You should probably check of 'Senlin Ascends' (Books of Babel series) by Josiah Bancroft. It's an indie work but I've heard a ton of good things!
