Born into broken body,
pieces made wrong,
parts twisted and the
connections off,
but beneath all the
backwards bits,
this soul was always
singing.

Never was quite right,
never fit together
or made much
sense,
but a body rots,
withers into
whisper and waste,

the spirit shouting out
from behind these bars,
has never felt
younger.
