Did you know, Benjamin Franklin was one of the first proponents of fresh air to fight colds and other 'corruptions' in the air? He and John Quincy were once traveling together and had to share a bed at an inn. Adams wanted the window closed and Franklin wanted it opened. Franklin coaxed him to open it by expounding on his theories of cold, air, perspiration and respiration. Adams was so entertained he fell asleep.
Information gleaned from David McCullough's
John Adams.
