TV shows and author recs while you're at home

Like millions of people, I’m staying home to #FlattenTheCurve. Granted, I already work from home, and especially now, I realize how fortunate that makes me. But, as of Monday, my husband and I also decided not to go out anywhere except the grocery store, and only then if we run out of what we’ve stocked up on. We might not be in the high-risk group for coronavirus, but people we know and love are. Even if they weren’t, doing our part to #FlattenTheCurve definitely falls under the “love your neighbor as yourself” and “treat others the way you want to be treated” tenants of our faith. So, home it is.

If you’re also home, and need a break from stress-watching the news, or suddenly having to home-school your kids, here are some suggestions for your down time. First up are my top ten favorite comedy paranormal tv shows. Note I said COMEDY paranormal tv shows, because I also have favorite drama and darker paranormal shows, but we could all use a laugh at the moment, right? So, if you like your supernatural laced with silly humor, these might be for you:

People of Earth

Santa Clarita Diet

Stan Against Evil

Ghosted

What We Do In The Shadows

Spirited

Misfits

Good Omens

Merlin

Warehouse 13

But I just want to read a good book to relax! some of you might be thinking.

Hey, I understand! That’s why I’m also listing my favorite paranormal authors, whose works encompass urban fantasy with a romantic element to paranormal romance (and some write excellent thrillers and other genres, too!) Notice that I can’t cap this list at ten because it was hard enough narrowing it down to my top twenty. I know I’ll kick myself for leaving some great names out. But, the good news for you is that if you’re not already familiar with these authors, many of them are very prolific, so you’ll have lots of great books to choose from. Authors are listed in alphabetical order. Happy reading!

Lara Adrian, Ilona Andrews, Kelly Armstrong, Patricia Briggs, Rachel Caine, Kresley Cole, Alyssa Day, Jennifer Estep, Yasmine Galenorn , Colleen Gleason , Charlaine Harris, Kim Harrison, Melissa Marr, Chloe Neil, Cherie Priest, Lynsay Sands, Gena Showalter, Nalini Singh, Maria Vale, and Rachel Vincent.

Donna Wood We live in Scotland so think that we are roughly at about the same stages of COVID19 as the USA? Yes I agree we should all be treating others as we would want to be treated!! I worked in the NHS for almost 30 years but have retired now and can’t go back to help out as I am definitely in the high risk category but I have to say a big shout out to all of the health care workers all over the world for all of the remarkable things they are doing for everyone everywhere they are all amazing!! And thank you for the recommendations as am sure we will all be needing some form of escapism over the next coming months and I would like to wish you & your family and all of your followers all the very best wishes for what we are all about to face and hopefully see you all on the other side big virtual hugs to ALL. Xx
