Wear me until I wear out,
faded and torn,
threads in need of patch
and sew.  

Broken in I’ll be,
busted up into buttery soft
and better than
before,
best thing you own,
you’ll say,
been with me
all this while.

Curl me up at the foot
of your bed,
throw me over your
shoulder, and carry me
everywhere you go,

I’ve been with you since
the start,
when I was fresh,
when I was
new.
