My favorite Deadpool scene I ever wrote. Haven't read this in years, thanks!

Deadpool seems oddly lucid, but then, I also feel like it fits?
Mostly I'm frightened to pick up any Deadpool these days because so many writers seem to think…

********************

It's true, he's deadly serious here.

Well, here's the thing. This is going to sound awful, maybe. But I hate 'wacky' Deadpool.  I don't want him to be ZANY.  I think ZANY Deadpool is a one note character I have no interest in.

The Deadpool I like to read, and to write, is more disturbed and disturbing than simply wacka wacka wacka constantly.  He's still funny, he still does stupid things sometimes (I had one issue of Agent X where Deadpool is just masturbating the entire issue), but I always felt that if he didn't have some gravity to him (beyond bloodshed), that he loses what makes him interesting, which is his tragedy. He's got to have some sadness he can't face at his core, or he just gets annoying.

I haven't been keeping up, I hear great things about his books now, but my favorite DP writers of the past always had SOME grounded moments among the pie-in-the-face stuff. I was hired by Joe Quesada with the mandate to make the book, "laugh-out-loud funny" again. But I also wanted to make people realize what a genuinely fucked life Wade had.
