So That Didn’t Work

I’ve said this before, but I don’t set a lot of stock in New Year’s resolutions. So far the only one I’ve ever done that worked was in 2017 when I resolved to listen to at least one song every day without doing anything else at the same time (a practice I would highly recommend for anybody trying to find a quiet moment in the midst of 21st-century chaos or reconnect with art in a meaningful way).

Eldon Farrell I was shocked to read of your difficulties gaining a new editor's attention. I mean really SHOCKED. If We Were Villains is such an incredible novel that showcases your brilliance. Why would anyone not want to see what you do next??

Unfortunately a lot of it has to do with sales. Staring over with a new publisher on your second book isn't a great position to be in and sales history ends up mattering a lot more than it should. I'm so glad to hear you liked the book so much! All we can do is hope an editor feels the same way about my new stuff.

Well I hope an editor does!! I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with next. Sometimes this business makes no sense at all. It shouldn't all be about sales.
