Adventures in Research - again

Well, getting four boxes of books out of the study had the added advantage of shaking to the surface a map I've been looking for - since Root, Hog is a road-trip book: Benjamin is out of New Orleans, which lets me explore other parts of the country and what was going on in the 1830s. I'm always on the lookout for old city maps, and have a fair collection of them, including pre-Haussmann Paris and pre-Mao Peking (and I STILL don't know where I got that one!). It's one of the things I love about writing historicals: the chance to re-create a place that has been gone for decades or, in most cases, centuries.
