My mom was looking for something quick to read so I got her to read The Language of Thorns by @lbardugo
When she gave it back to me the only thing she said was:
“That woman has a very strange mind, I approve.”

My favorite quote ever from a review is from Jason Sheehan’s very kind review of The Language of Thorns on NPR. He’s talking about good and bad fairy tales:
The bad ones sing Careful what you wish for and Sometimes pretty isn’t as important as smart with choruses of cute mice and bluebirds. But the good ones don’t end before there’s blood on the knife.

i like how your mom would see this type of book personally the language of thorns left me even more confused then reading king of scars then the six crows trilogy then the shadow and bone series in that order
I remember when I got my mum to read Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom. She was upset with the *spoiler* at the end. She also loved the physiological damage of the characters, and how it uniquely colored them. She also pictured each of the characters as adults, not teens. She said it was the only way she could actually see the events as realistic. *laughs*
I love how your mum is so accepting of LB and her amazing style of writing. Also I 100% agree on the strange mind part
