Rendezvous with Rama

Rendezvous with Rama (Rama, #1) Rendezvous with Rama by Arthur C. Clarke

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

*** Possible Spoilers ***

It's difficult not to like works by Arthur C. Clarke. This was first published in 1973 and reads like it could have been written yesterday. It's interesting, exciting, and never melodramatic. Don't look for strong character arcs or introspection here. This reads almost like history text and while some people object to the lack of conventional drama, I found every page fascinating. I highly recommend it. One thing I found particularly fascinating was the biots - biological robots - a combination of organic and inorganic components working together. Recently there was an announcement of the creation of biological robots. These were fully organic and still at the level of the petri-dish, but fascinating all the same. Tip-of-the-hat to Mr. Clarke.
