Giving Back

I know how fortunate I am.  I have a loving family, a nice house, and I job I adore.  Yea, we’ve had some health challenges with hubby’s kidney transplant, but I think it’s when something like that happens, it makes you grateful for what you do have, what’s going well.

So, why not give back? There are a few charities that I like to support, charities that help children and animals. I always give to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Founded by actor Danny Thomas, St. Jude’s  mission “is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment.” And no child is turned away, even if they can’t pay. So, that’s a charity that’s close to my heart.

As I’ve talked about over the years, I love animals and have had numerous dogs and cats in my household. This is my wonderful dog Lady, who hubby rescued from a junkyard. She’s one of the lucky ones, but so many animals are abused and neglected.  So animal charities are another passion of mine and another place where I choose to put my money.

It’s been so sad to watch the news of the wildfires in Australia.
They said over a billion animals have died. There are charities helping out
with the care of injured animals in Australia, like the World Wildlife Fund.
They all need our help.

So as we go forward into 2020, please keep those (people and
animals) less fortunate in mind.

Do you have a favorite charity or organization you like to give
to? Do you volunteer anywhere?

Betty Morris I give to St Jude, Shriner’s Hospital for Children, Tunnel 2 Towers, and also have a rescue dog that desperately needed love. She now rules our world! It doesn’t take a lot to help the less fortunate but gives a world of satisfaction knowing you’re helping someone in some way. A little help from everyone will add up to a lot of help for those who need it most.
