Names are tricky!

I think one of the challenging things about writing a story with multiple points of view is keeping track of the names that people think of themselves and each other by, as well as the names they call each other. For example, a married Mr. Darcy might think of his wife as Elizabeth but call her Mrs. Darcy in society, so I’d be switching back and forth between dialogue and narration.

This gets even more confusing in a story like Beauty and Mr. Darcy, which has a whopping eight points of view! Each of the five Bennet sisters and Charlotte have POV regularly, with a few scenes from Darcy and Bingley’s points of view thrown in for fun. Some scenes overlap or pick up where another leaves off, but with the added fun of a character suddenly being called a different name in narration! Hopefully my excellent beta-reader and editor will catch any slips that I might make.
