Making My Book Resolutions for 2012

Everybody draws up their new year's resolutions, and we book readers are no exception. Goodreads tracked my 2011 reads clocking in at 125 books, so I made that my goal for 2012. If I make it, great. If I don't, well, gosh, I sure did try.

From the various best of 2011 reading lists, I've pegged several books, especially titles published by the indies, I want to catch up on. Most of these are crime fiction.

For 2012, I also want to continue chipping away at my bucket list of reads. You know, those books you aim to read before you "kick the bucket." The trouble is many of these books are so l-o-o-ng. For instance, there's John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath or Norman Mailer's The Naked and the Dead. Ditto for Margaret Mitchell's classic title.

2012 also marks the year of the Kindle for me. I've read a dozen or so novels on mine, and I'm liking it just fine. My Kindle is lightweight, and therefore portable to such places as the dentist's office, vet's office, etc. that's a big plus. Plus, a lot of new books are being released as only e-books.

I'd like to read more nonfiction. Memoirs don't interest me, but biographies are okay. I like books on film, especially film noir. At any rate,
2012 is shaping up to be a fun and adventurous books year. I hope yours is doing the same!

Sibhs 2012 also marks the year of the Kindle for me. I wasn't sure if I'd like it, as I love the feel of books and the sensation of turning the page. It's in my top five of best Christmas presents ever received.
