Typewriter Series #2832 by Tyler Knott Gregson

*Psst, wanna hear me read these poems aloud?  Podcast is up on Spotify and iTunes and places, and the linkthing is in my bio. Subscribe, it’s gonna grow soon.*

Wouldn’t you shout out loud,
wouldn’t you dance
and forget the shyness,
wouldn’t you rejoice and
worry not the words you
screamed?

Do you know how long I rotted
on that desolate road,
do you know how close I was
to forgetting all the whys?

I’ve got a voice for hymns now,
gospel songs sang
to that god I call
survival.

Joy is an arm full of old scars
with blood settled and safe
beneath the surface,
blood that knows
it made it through
the Winter.
