Cuddle up with a book! Our Christmas favorites

“The Night Before Christmas”
I
can’t really pick only one favourite Christmas book, so I’ve decided to
single out “The Night Before Christmas” by Clement C. Moore, for
sentimental reasons…
I
believe I’ve managed to find the cover of the pop-up book version I had
as a child. Every Christmas Eve of my early youth, my Dad would read
the story to me before I went to bed to await Santa’s arrival.
It’s
Dad reading “The Night Before Christmas” as well as “The Hobbit”
(J.R.R. Tolkien) to me that are my fondest memories of time I spent with
my father as a child—particularly when we lived on our own for a couple
of years. He had a gentle tone of voice that was appealing to listen
to.
My father passed
away a couple of years ago now, and I find myself thinking about the
books he read to me more often these days. Particularly our annual
tradition, “The Night Before Christmas.”
So, read to and with your kids, guys. I know you probably already do, but maybe read together more often. It means everything.
