App Discovery

***I received no compensation for this post***

I found a new app for my phone! I'm still discovering all its capabilities, but it looks intriguing and full of possibilities. The app is from the 3M company and is called Post It. Yes, like the notes.

The app is free and it allows the user to created Post It notes inside it or to take pictures of existing Post It notes. They can be grouped and rearranged (either singly or the entire group). Color coding is also a reality. It works with phones and tablets (phone iOS and Android) and there is a version for Mac. No Windows version as of this writing. Oh! And you can also sync across devices.

This is awesome because I use a kanban board in my office with Post It notes filled with tasks to accomplish. (examples: Write chapter 20, write back cover copy, etc.) But I have a day job that keeps me away from home, and if I need to check something on lunch, I'm out of luck. Or I was. Now I can keep track on my phone with the Post It app.

The other feature I really love is being able to create Post Its on my iPad with the pencil. I think I blogged about how I was using large Post Its on my filing cabinet to keep track of scenes. Well, that didn't work. I revised and changed things and got lazy about creating a new one to replace it. I also ran out of room on the filing cabinet and every time I needed to open the top section, I'd bend my notes and this drove me crazy.

You're able to set your default note color. I went with Fireball Fuchsia, natch! But I started color coding my notes for the Work In Progress in there and this is cool. I did not go backward and redo the chapters I've already written, but kind of started to sketch out the future chapters.

Anyway if you're a Post It note user, I recommend giving the app a try. I like it.
