Unearthed as though
discovered,
found as though carved
from some single slab,
chisel marks left
like scars.
Maybe I was beneath it
all this while,
locked in and shouting
against the marble
and dirt, screaming out
for hands
though I knew not
what to call them.
First I knew of you
was fingertips
and blood.
