Threads, always we’ve been threads,
some strong some frayed, some vibrant
while others soft, delicate in their shade.
Woven, we, this around that around this,
lives like string, like a soft tug could undo us
or pull us closer together. Pulled,
every single pieces changes, what happens
to you, will happen to me,
somewhere down the line, be it hours,
or moments, weeks or the passing of
decades.
Pass down this truth, over old hands
held to old lips, across creases in fingertips
worked to bone, pass it down over tea steam
and smoke, pass it to those who forgot,
those who never knew.
These threads tell stories, yours, ours,
tell of survival and ferocious tenderness
in the face of it all.
Pass down this truth, pull lightly
on these strings, show us what it is
to come together.
