As part of the Travel Channel China filming, we invited a FIDM Graduate, Patrick Griley to show off innovative life-saving style...

The Avalanche Coat--FIDM Menswear Program Grad Patrick Griley of Aurora Outerwear and his innovative and lifechanging "Airbag Coat"--Griley designed and created this coat inspired by the inflatable lifejackets that big wave surfers use. With the pull of a cord, the bag inflates and floats you to the surface of the slide so the wearer doesn't get buried in the event of an avalanche.  The bag is tucked into a pocket that is located on the back of the shoulders and is secured by a chest harness that is on the inside of the jacket, and the result is a blend of comfort and safety.

Here is the Avalanche Coat in action!
