When walls crumble,
rubble remains.
Every piece of barrier
ever built, every excuse
and isolating insulation
scatters, all that we know
silenced in the dust
and fragment of who
we were.  

You came, steady and
still, and wandered through
the mountain of ash
and stone.  
Gently, you raised each
piece, pebble to boulder
and called them
beautiful.  

Broken walls
in your tired hands,
I cannot be pieces
when you love me
whole.
