It was like a bad joke, a really really terrible one.
Can was coming back home and news of his arrival already had the vultures circling.
That’s his mother.
“Shut up!”
“Excuse me!” Huma leveled her with a glare that would have had Sanem scurrying away two years ago. Now that she knew the viper’s true form, nothing about Huma impressed her.
“I said what’s up?” Sanem asked from the top of the stairs. Being at a higher level giving her more confidence. “Why are you here, in my home?”
