The Inspiration of a Writer
It never ceases to amaze me how inspirations arise. I’ve had fleeting moments where it felt like the whole world stood still for a moment as something as simple as a bird flying by my speeding car caught my eye. It’s moments like that where I realize these simple moments that I often brush by the wayside are not really simple but miraculous.
The same can be said for conversations with friends and family. When that thought provoking saying can spark an interest in my brain, begging me to write it down for three people to read in my blog.
People tend to ask me how do I come up with what I write? And the simple answer is, “I don’t know.”
I don’t force myself to try to write something impactful. If I live with that type of high standards, I dare say I would ever type another word. And as my thoughts jumble, I never think that what I am writing is insightful or wise. These are just words that caused myself to pause and reflect for a brief moment in time.
I’ve imagined storylines that will probably never be written, or characters that will never breathe in the pages that few readers will flip through. There are songs that I’ve written that will never be heard and heart numbing quotes that will never be posted.
Inspiration isn’t about gaining a buzz or a following. To me it’s not about being trendy with a catchy hook or nitch. It’s just being in the moment and allowing that moment to change you from the inside out.
I’ve had many moments that I felt changed and I hope those moments have actually changed me. It’s like the expression of feeling God and knowing God.
I hope at the end of the day I don’t settle for feeling God move when knowing God is so much better.
So I may not understand a lot that happens in this world or why it happens, but I can rest in the assurance that I know the One that does.
I hope you feel those moments of divine inspiration and allow yourself to let it sink into your soul where feeling turns into knowing.
Peace
