Call for Submissions: Chicken Soup for the Soul/Hockey

Here's one that'll be of special interest to my fellow Canadians: Chicken Soup for the Soul is looking for hockey stories! Got one? Write it up and submit:

Chicken Soup for the Soul: Hooked on Hockey
101 Stories about the Greatest Game and the Families that Love to Play It

If you love hockey, we are looking for stories from you! This book, scheduled for publication October 2, 2012, will be written by and for hockey fans and families. The book will include stories from everyday hockey players and fans like you, as well as revealing personal stories from some of your favorite NHLers and hockey insiders.

Here are some suggested topics, but we know you can think of many more: Early morningsFamily bonding around hockeyFinding a way to playPlaying hockey as a kidPlaying hockey as an adultLearning to love hockeyHockey traditionsBeing a hockey parentArranging your life for hockeyEncounters with hockey starsStories about watching your country's teams play in the OlympicsStories about great sportsmanship... and not so great!What hockey means to youBackyard rinksPick-up shinny gamesThe exhilaration of playing outdoorsBeing part of a teamAny other great Chicken Soup for the Soul story that involves hockey Your stories or poems need to be nonfiction and about your personal experiences or those of someone close to you. No "creative writing" please. We prefer stories written in the first person and no more than 1,200 words. If you ghost-write a story for someone else, that person, not you, will be listed as the author of the story. Stories should not have been previously published by Chicken Soup for the Soul or other major print publications.

If your story is chosen, you will be a published author and your bio will be printed in the book if you so choose. You will also receive a check for US $200 and 10 free copies of your book, worth more than $100. You will retain the copyright for your story and you will retain the right to resell it.
