BOOK REVIEW: The Devouring Gray (The Devouring Gray, #2) ~ The PERFECT mix of mystery and magic! *SPOILER FREE*

Hello awesome people and happy Saturday everyone!

You have no idea how extremely happy I am that I have already read two books this month, despite the fact that it’s NaNo month, too. And not only I’ve read two books, but both of them were 5-star rated books!

I’ve already talked about Tears of Frost, so today, I’m gonna rant a bit about the best Mystery/Urban Fantasy novel I’ve read in a while: The Devouring Gray!

“On the edge of town a beast haunts the woods, trapped in the Gray, its bonds loosening…

Uprooted from the city, Violet Saunders doesn’t have much hope of fitting in at her new school in Four Paths, a town almost buried in the woodlands of rural New York. The fact that she’s descended from one of the town’s founders doesn’t help much, either—her new neighbours treat her with distant respect, and something very like fear. When she meets Justin, May, Isaac, and Harper, all children of founder families, and sees the otherworldly destruction they can wreak, she starts to wonder if the townsfolk are right to be afraid.

When bodies start to appear in the woods, the locals become downright hostile. Can the teenagers solve the mystery of Four Paths, and their own part in it, before another calamity strikes?”

So, I listened to this on Scribd and I fell head over heels with it right from the beginning.

The schemes and the dark secrets of this little town that reminded me so very much of Rivendale, combined with the eerie atmosphere and the magical vibes that brought back memories of The Vampire Diaries TV series were the ultimate combination, what I needed for this book to win a place in my heart.

The beautiful descriptions, the amazing writing style and the unexpected plot twists, along with the multiple POVs, the diversity of the characters and the tiny touch of romance gave an extra spark to this beautiful, unique story, and simply made the book unputdownable. Or actually unstoppable, since I was listening to the audiobook.
