Are there birds that follow the Fall,
autumnal migrators
that find solace in falling leaf,
in fog on mountains in early morning,
the light late to arrive?
Are we them, winged and peripatetic,
chasing the angled sun that
lends crispness to midday,
orange glow to the evenings?  

We’ll land shortly in Winter,
stay for the lights and softness
of snow on snow,
we’ll quiet and rest through
first growth in Spring, through
fire in our treetops when Summer
burns,

but it is Autumn we seek.
