I miss how I was, who I was,
despite the positivity I still find
in myself. I once was more,
saw things even clearer,
gave more allowances for
the greatness of things,
the beauty inherent.
Is it life or is it me
that paints the haze over
the surfaces these days,
sometimes a thin coat,
whisper transparent
and almost non-existent,
thick other days, a smudge
that makes it all but
opaque.
Tell me where it goes,
where it vanishes to, that
freshness, that purity
I never had to work for.
Tell me I can still be him,
that shining eyed son
of a son.
