I hate the way you smugly look at me,
Knowing exactly what is on my afflicted mind.
I hate the way you flaunt your days and celebrate your wins,
Smiling sweetly as if simple, serenely benign.
I hate the way you’re forever treating him
Like a shiny possession, simpering propper-upper or stupid pet.
I hate the way he’s always on your leash,
That he’s tied to you, in more ways than one, and yet
He’s still there. Still smiling, still holding on,
Living an existence I don’t want to be true.
