Devotional – Chapter 3 – Certainly Is Definitely a Possibility – 1 of 2

“Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; He is the faithful God, keeping His covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love Him and keep His commands.”  Deuteronomy 7:9

Know
it!  You got to know it without any
doubt.  Do you know that God is God?  That God who we casually talk to causes
storms to knock down trees.  God, who we
command to answer our selfish prayers, makes volcanoes to blow, spewing
scorching lava.  God, who we pack neatly
in our jewelry boxes and then place around our neck, forces the earth to quake
and form gaps and caverns with ease.  Our
God is not a small powerless God.  He is
the God who spoke everything into existence.

We
know it, but do we show it?

What
can you do to show it?

He
is faithful to us.  He is more faithful
to us, His creation, than we are to our Maker.
Shouldn’t it be the other way around?
Shouldn’t we do all that we can to show our gratitude? Yet He makes sure
to hear every word we say…even when we hardly speak to Him.

All the chisels I’ve dulled carving idols of stone

That have crumbled like sand neath the waves

I’ve recklessly built all my dreams in the sand

Just to watch them all wash away

Through another day, another trial,

Another chance to reconcile to One who sees past all I see

And reaching out my weary hand I pray that You’d understand

You’re the only one who’s faithful to me

“Faithful to Me”

He
keeps His promises.  What promise should
you keep with Him?

You
know what I think is interesting, that the God who planned out His glorious act
of love through a horrible death on a cross, planned it out before we were
here.  He loved us so much that He knew
we were going to mess it all up. So He had a backup plan.  Think of yourself in God’s place.  He created the Garden of Eden for perfection,
and then we chose to become imperfect.
If you had a friend that hurt you, are you quick to forgive?  If that friend lied to you, hid from you, rejected
and betrayed you, how would you respond?
Would you find a way to mend the relationship or would you part
ways?  God sent Jesus to mend our
relationship.  He doesn’t want to part
ways with any of us.  Thousands of years
have passed since Jesus’ sacrifice, and God is still begging us to come back to
Him.

I’m
certain of that.
