A poem by Terry Gee
Pain is a papercut at work
Pain is stubbing your big toePain is falling overAnd landing on your elbow
Pain is losing a friendOr watching a loved one diePain is a broken heartWhere all you can do is cry
Pain is baking a cakeAnd burning your hand on the trayPain is eating too muchAnd seeing how much you weigh
Pain is a chronic illnessOne with constant painWhen not being able to sit or sleep or walkIs slowing driving you insane
Pain is everywhereIt is with us allAnd no pain is greater than yoursThere is no big and small
Pain is usually fleetingIn a flash the pain is goneFor others it’s a constant companionThey can’t switch it off and on
When pain killers stop workingWhen laying down only makes it worsePain is a pain that just won’t quitAnd every day feels like a curse
Pain is painfulWhenever it strikesBut pain is not invincibleWe must never stop the fight
Pain just is
