Two years ago I asked you to marry me, to let me call you wife. Two years ago we sat on driftwood and stared into the sea, eyes glossed with tears, breathless and alive. One month from today, you will walk to me, slow steps though you’ll wish to sprint, I will stand still though I will ache to meet you halfway. In some Scottish rain we will say our words, and I will call you wife, listen as you call me husband.
