Well, there are actually quite a bit of interesting discussions about the privilege (usually status wise and culturally) involved in Veganism, which is where a lot of the criticism comes from in social justice circles. Not saying that's something that NEED

Right, I've read some of that, that some people are in  position to have diets that would be almost impossible for less privileged people to even consider, let alone implement.

But I wasn't aware of the depth of contempt that is apparent in the media for people who choose to eat Vegan.
