Writer's Block

Writer's block . . . I hate you! I have been working on book two of The Dead and The Living and chapter three has had me stumped. It has taken me nearly two, two and half weeks to get it to where it needs to be. I tried editing it, rewriting it, deleting it and writing it twice before I found the voice of that chapter. I will have to tweak chapter one but, chapter three is done!

So, if you have writers block, I suggest you just keep writing. Keep going. It will all work itself out. It is scary to have writer's block. It hits from time to time and I worry that one day it will not leave me and I will no longer be able to write anything. Writing is my escape and creative outlet from this world.

I'm excited to see where this book goes and what happens over the next few chapters. Stay tuned, I will blog about it later. I have a feeling the zombies are going to make themselves known rather quickly from here on out.

Cindy Johnson I'm having the same thing with my 3rd book. I've started over at least 4 times. It's better but I'm still not happy with it. It's the last book in a three part series. I don't know why this one is so difficult, but I keep writing.

It is so tough when you get stuck on something and you just want to fix it right away. A trick that helps me, once I get past this part, is to let it be and once I finish the book and read over it as a whole, I find what I don't like and change it.

I have had books that I've deleted over and over. I step away from those books and maybe write a short story or take a day or two and then hit it again. That helps a lot too.

You will get it worked out Cindy! Keep me posted.

Cindy Johnson That's exactly what I'm doing. I'm just telling myself the story right now, and then when I go over it again I'll fix what I don't like. We'll both get there.

Awesome! It helps to always go back once done. I used to stress over a chapter or a few chapters until I started fixing them once the book was written. I'm glad to know I'm not alone in this boat.
