✨ Writing Update ✨ So a few posts ago, I mentioned I had started drafting my #fireproject and I thought I’d share a little update as to where I’m at in the manuscript. ✨ I’m currently 53,000 words in, and I’m just starting Chapter 20. I’m estimating this book will be around 100,000 words, so I’m just over halfway done! ✨ Some chapters have flowed out of me, and some I’ve really had to wrestle with. I’ve discovered it depends on which character POV I’m writing (some characters I know better than others). ✨ This has truly been a write-by-the-seat-of-my-pants book, which has been so fun and kinda scary at the same time. ✨ My writing buddy @isabelwriter09 & I have been swapping chapters, which has kept me very motivated to keep drafting. ✨ I’ve drawn inspiration from both music and Pinterest! (My playlist & board are both set private for now, but I hope to someday share them). I will say the Braveheart and LOTR (and most recently The Dark Crystal AoR!) soundtracks have been playing on repeat while I work. ✨ I haven’t outlined or planned ahead with this manuscript, but my process has been this: I write a chapter and explore, letting my characters guide me. And then that sparks a future scene, and I’ll scribble down a few lines of that impending scene in my journal. I dangle it like a carrot, enticing me to keep going, keep figuring things out and weave the plot threads together to reach that scene. ✨ I know what the last line of the book will be. Which I don’t think has ever happened to me before! (My other last lines have come to me when I’m writing the final scene). ✨ So…I just wanted to share a little glimpse into my journey with this manuscript.
