What’s in my brain these days

So, all of you know I published BEELZEBUB: A MEMOIR in July. You also know that I’m working on THE LEAGUE OF UNUSUAL DENIZENS, which right now is planned for a January release. I’ve also finished a novella, ST. PETER TAKES A HOLIDAY, which will come out in October. It’s shorter than my normal fare, so will be priced a little less. It’s a fun story, though, at least so I think.

Most people like BEELZEBUB: A MEMOIR, but some don’t. Those who don’t seem to be PO’d at me because the “memoir” is different from what I’ve done to date. They want me to write Steve stories forever.

I could actually do that, btw. Steve is a blast to write, and he has a great group of friends. But novels need to show character development, and Steve Minion is very nearly self-actualized.

So I have been exploring other characters in my little universe. I did Beezy. Peter is next. My goal here is to write an open-ended series like Discworld, with multiple protagonists, though probably with Steve always as a touchstone/frequent character. I hope you like this direction and will enjoy the ride.

I have four more CIRCLES IN HELL stories in my head at present, all of which I’ll probably do, and I’m also beginning to think about stories outside the series. I have one or two in mind. I could do urban fantasy. Right now, I’m thinking about urban mythology, if that’s a thing at all.

I really care very much about my readers, and I’d love to hear from you. I’m never short of story ideas, but I want to write things you’d like to read.
