Erasing the past is the only way to survive the future…
It’s beyond love at first sight the day geneticist Richard Hall spots secretary Eva Fjelstad. They have so much in common—a love of rare steak, red wine and music, and they work for the renowned, yet enigmatic research corporation Sub Rosa.
The beauty of being a bright young geneticist is that Richard has access to cutting-edge technology, including a newly developed soulmate serum. A sip of the serum and a brush of hands confirm Richard and Eva are destined to be together.
But there’s a problem.
Sub Rosa in the swinging sixties isn’t as peace-loving as it seems, and when Richard uncovers corruption at the very core of the company—a secret that goes to the heart of his parents’ disappearance—he’s faced with a decision no man wants to make.
For generations, the Jade and Violet vampire clans have roamed the world, posing little threat to the blissfully ignorant human population. However, it’s Richard who unearths Sub Rosa’s genocidal scheme to eradicate the vampire species from existence.
Should Richard stay true to his moral compass and risk his relationship with Eva to expose the agency’s deep-seated cruelty and deception? Or does he toe the company line, let vampires vanish from the world and keep his soulmate safe, secure and by his side forever?

“Ice cream. Probably not the best choice on a cold night, huh?”
He’d mistook her body’s response to him for the ice cream. And she wouldn’t correct him or they’d be on each other like randy rabbits.
“Yes, something hot would have made more sense.”
“I could get you something hot if you want.” His smile said he meant every bit of insinuation in that sentence.
“No, I’m fine.” If fine meant totally turned on. Her panties dampened more with each moment in his car’s close quarters.
Eva focused on her Gaytime, sucking the mini balls of biscuit and licking the remaining ice cream off the wooden stick. She could feel his eyes all over her and glanced up, tongue poised mid-lick. Richard was watching her, all right, with an I-want-to-do-that-to-you glint in his eyes.
“You look like you really enjoyed that,” he said with a wicked smile that could just about melt off her clothes.
A heatwave soared under her skin and she licked her lips. “I did.” Two could play his titillating game.
He shifted in his seat, giving away exactly where his mind went—the dirtiest end of the gutter. She couldn’t help but smile. Now he knew how she felt being around him with his sexy masculine scent, irresistible green eyes and alluring, muscular body. A small moan escaped her lips and she covered it up with a cough.
Richard shifted closer. Would he make a move? Would he kiss her again? Between her hammering heart and labored breathing, she was seconds away from having a full-blown desire attack.
His personal space began to intersect with hers, and he stopped and chuckled.
“What?” Her voice sounded breathy, her body still recovering from his silent, unfulfilled promise of a kiss.
Richard reached up and caressed the corner of her mouth, sweeping away a ball of biscuit.
How embarrassing!
He cupped her face. “Saving it for later on?”
Her heart thumped so loud that he could probably hear it over the chattering speaker in his window. He tilted her chin up, his gaze switching between her eyes and her lips and he dipped his mouth to hers. His gentle kiss brushed her lips, tentative this time, as though checking to make sure she wanted it as much as he did. And she did, maybe more.
Eva parted her lips, welcoming his tongue, and she wound her arms around his neck. A groan sounded in his throat and she pressed into him, desperate to hear him do it again. And he did—deeper, longer.
Richard sank his hand into her hair and tugged just enough to set off a wave of warm tingles rolling across her scalp. He delved his tongue farther into her mouth, stroking and sucking on hers until he teased out a moan. His other hand traveled an achingly slow path along her curves and came to rest on her bare leg.
Each of her nerve endings pinged, like scoring in a game of pinball, and he was the expert player. She wanted to shed her clothes and be naked with him. Suddenly she didn’t care what society thought. Being present in the sensual moment with Richard mattered most.
Where had this extra-sexualized Eva sprung from? Obviously, she’d been stuck somewhere deep in her psyche, so deep she hadn’t even realized her alter ego existed. It was like she represented Excalibur and Richard, King Arthur, the only man who could free her sexy side from stone.
