Google has a service that allows you to limit the amount of advertising that plops into your googlebox.  I clicked on it and found out who I am:

We infer your age and gender based on the websites you've visited. You can remove or edit these at any time.
Age: 25-34
Gender: Male
 
Well, hell.  If they think I’m 34, it’s no wonder I get all those ads for bike touring and whitewater rafting.  Rather than hair restorer.  Don’t guess I’ll correct them.
