Audiobook Review: Cross and Burn by Val McDermid

Cross and Burn by Val McDermid

Published in 2013. A young teenager reports his mother missing to the police but the desk sergeant sends him away, telling him that he has to wait 24 hours. However, Detective Sergeant McIntyre knows the boy and takes his statement on her way to reporting in to a new office. Not long after that another woman is found dead and later the boy's mother is found dead. The police determine a serial killer is on the loose. As the police investigate, the evidence points in a disturbing direction to Dr. Tony Hill, clinical psychologist and police consultant> He’s arrested but his allies come to his aid and try to find the evidence to exonerate him.

Gripping novel. I was thoroughly involved as I listened to this on my road trip. It made the hours go by fast. I also liked the explanation for the title--in life, you must decide which bridges to cross and which bridges to burn or something along those lines.

The narration was done by Gerard Doyle.
