Flat and Boring

Another reader question, which I'm paraphrasing in this case:

Everything I write right now is flat, and boring, and doesn't work. What things can I do to get myself out of this rut?

My answer tends to be "write through it" asin "accept that what you're writing is flat and boring and just keep going with what you're doing, eventually you will probably hit a better vein of flow."
