after VI

He sat in the back of the squad car and waited for the Community Service Corporal to return. He was off asking some questions of neighbours, and he said he needed him to come to the station and fill out an official statement. So he waited.

It was hot in the car. Hotter than outside. The cop hadn't put on the air conditioning, the window couldn't be cracked, and the door — perpetrator proof — couldn't be opened from the inside. He realized he was stuck behind a cage, and that was when he realized something didn't feel right. Why was he behind a cage? Why the fuck did they call them Community Service Corporals? Did they really think it made cops seems more friendly? More trustworthy? Why had the cop left him like this? It was his car that was stolen, after all. Did the cop think he had something to do with it? Why would the cop do this to him?
