It took me a total of ten years to write it. There were some breaks, of course. I kept putting it away, taking it out, and seeing places that needed improvement. I enjoyed this process, but I was also glad when it was over! I'd probably revise till I dropped dead, if anyone would let me. Good thing publishers have deadlines.
