Excerpt
In the year 2375, those in the land of Eire felt their luck had turned from bad to rotten. Gone were the days of freedom they so cherished, as the English had once again invaded their country and enslaved their people. Some of these hardy folks spoke of a legend bandied about by the little people, the leprechauns, of a woman from Eire fated to become a mother by one of their kind. Most ignored the rumors until near about Christmas time, when a gal of fair face and fiery hair fell for the charms of a roguish leprechaun by the name of Seamus McBlarney. The lad she produced was fine and strapping, with a set of lungs said to be heard halfway across the country—in Dublin Town, no less. His eyes were as green as the grass upon their wild land and his hair was a richer red than that of his mam. He had a smile that broke hearts wherever he went, and he grew tall, a mighty oak among the ash and thorn.
