In September 2011, participants in a conference on the Military Industrial Complex at 50 included Mayor Dave Norris, City Council Member Kristin Szakos, and then-candidate but now City Council Member-Elect Dede Smith. As the mayor pointed out at the time, that's a majority of a five-member council.
