How does life know to be a painting, how do colors know which team they’re assigned to? How does thunder choose it’s rumble, when does lightning decide which jagged shape to assume? Do birds get a say in the song they sing, do some fall off key and forget to notice? Do the grasslands wave in slow undulations because they wish they were the sea, or because once, they danced that way beneath the water too? When I stand there, still and quiet, can the pulse of a place sense me, does it feel even a fraction of the reverence towards me, that I feel towards it, or am I just another silhouette, another tree on their horizon?
